Children reading at Danganya Primary School

A Primary School in South Africa says the AES Charitable Trust has “made a significant impact on the educational lives of teachers and learners”.

Danganya Primary School has opened a new library, hosted a quiz and celebrated International Literacy Day alongside fellow AES beneficiaries Sophunga Primary, thanks to the trust’s sponsorship.

The 30th LEARN Library opened on July 30 and is a place in which the school says “dreams are ignited and endless possibilities await”.

The LEARN Project says the Friendship and Literacy Day united the Danganya and Sophunga schools, with each child from the latter taking home a copy of the book “The Nocturnal Nine”.

Sixteen teams from eight schools participated in the Phendulani Literacy Quiz, with certificates and book prizes for the top performers again sponsored by AES.

A spokesperson for the LEARN Project commented:

Together, over the years, we have established 15 libraries and 146 classroom book corners. A number of other crèches and preschools have also been equipped with books and reading resources due to the generosity of the AES Charitable Trust. Thank you for helping us educate our Rainbow Nation – we value your support.

Danganya Primary School, located in the eThekwini Municipality, is known for promoting excellence and cultural diversity, and celebrating its students.
